In this case, the visa authorization process can take
some weeks.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

Fill out the

b.
Valid passport (it MUST have a minimum of six
months of validity beyond intended stay).
c.
Proof of residence in USA: copy of green card or
electricity bill or water bill or leasing contract.
d.
Proof of onward/return ticket reservation.
e.
Lack of criminal record authenticated by County
Clerk or any competent local authority only, if it is a

Personal interview
h.
Consular fee: US $ 30.00 paid in cash or money
order on the name of Consulate General of Peru.

TOURIST VISA
Citizens
from the following countries or territories do not need
a temporary tourist or transit visa, up to 183 days:
SOUTH
AMERICA:
Argentina, Bolivia, Brasil, Colombia, Chile, Ecuador,
Guyana, Paraguay, Surinam, Uruguay and Venezuela.
NORTH AMERICA:
Canada, United States and Mexico.
CENTRAL
AMERICA:
Belice.
CARIBBEAN:
Dominican Republic, Haiti, Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas,
Barbados, Dominica, Granada, Jamaica, San Crist. and
Nevis, Sta.Lucía, San Vicente y Gra., Trinidad and
Tobago.
WESTERN EUROPE:
Germany, Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Spain,
Finland, France, Great Britain (UK) and North Ireland,
Greece, Ireland, Iceland, Italy, Liechtenstein,
Luxemburg, Malta, Monaco, Norway, Netherlands, Portugal,
Romania, St. Marino, The Holy See, Sweden and
Switzerland.
CENTRAL AND EASTERN EUROPE:
Bulgaria, Belarus, Czech Republic, Cyprus, Croatia,
Slovenia, Slovakia, Estonia, Russia, Hungary, Latvia,
Lithuania, Macedonia, Moldova, Poland, Ukraine, Serbia y
Montenegro.
ASIA:
Brunei Darussalam, Philippines, Indonesia, Israel,
Japan, Malaysia, South Korea, Singapore, Thailand and
the territories of Hong Kong y Taiwan.
OCEANIA:
Australia, Fiji, Cook Islands, Marshall Islands, Solomon
Islands, Kiribati, Micronesia, Nauru, Niue, New Zealand,
Palau, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Tonga, Tuvalu, Vanuatu.
AFRICA:
South Africa.
Nationals
of the countries not listed above, must always apply for
a visa to enter Peru.
REQUIREMENTS TO OBTAIN A TOURIST VISA
a) General requirements
b) Proof of their hotel or tour package reservation.
If you are planning to stay at a
relative or friend’s residence, you must submit (by fax
or e-mail) a letter from your host/hostess stating that
you are going to stay at his/her residence during your
visit. The letter must contain the following details:
host or hostess’ first and last name, cell phone #,
ground phone #, fax #, home address, name of company
where he/she works, company address, company phone and
e-mail address (personal and corporative), along with a
copy his/her DNI if Peruvian, or passport if foreign
(personal details and valid Peruvian visa) and Carnet de
Extranjeria.
c) Proofs that show they have sufficient funds for
their stay as, for example, valid credit card and bank
statement (financial statement) which must be printed on
company paper, not older than 3 months, mentioning the
bank’s contact address and phone number, contact person
and account number.
General and specific requirements must be fulfilled even
if you have obtained a previous authorization issued by
the Peruvian immigration office (Oficina de Migraciones
or DIGEMIN).
Once the authorization is granted, the visa will be
fixed on the passport, showing the air ticket or booking
and having a valid passport for the length of the trip.
You will be issued a tourist card upon entry, which is
valid for up to 183 days.
Once the visa is issued, you shall use it within twelve
(12) months.

TRANSIT VISA
This type of visa does not exist anymore. You should
apply for a tourist visa.

BUSINESS VISA
If you are planning to travel with business purposes to
in Peru, you must obtain a business visa. A Business
Visa is issued for multiple entries within 183 days from
first entry.
REQUIREMENTS TO OBTAIN A BUSINESS VISA
a)
General requirements
b)
Letter from the Peruvian company, if your trip is
associated to this company.
c)
Letter from your company stating that it has
sufficient funds for your trip and stay in Peru.
d)
Letter from your employer or the local Chamber of
Commerce, indicating the nature of business and duration
of your stay.
These business letters must contain the following
information:
a) The letter must be addressed to the Consulate of
Peru.
b) The letter must explain the purpose of the trip
and/or nature of business that takes you to Peru.
c) The letter must be on company letterhead and
signed by someone at your company other than you.
d) The letter should be written on company
letterhead.
e) The name of the document applicant sponsored or
employed by the company or organization.
f) The countries to be visited.
g) The length of the trip or the earliest possible
date of departure (if you may travel at any time,
indicate an approximate date).
General and specific requirements must be fulfilled even
if you have obtained a previous authorization issued by
the Peruvian Immigration Office (Oficina de Migraciones
or DIGEMIN).
Once the visa is issued, you shall use it within twelve
(12) months.
Long-term residents should go to the Peruvian
Immigration Office (Oficina de Migraciones or DIGEMIN)
to obtain a residency card. The main Peruvian
Immigration Office in Lima is located on Prolongación
España # 734, in Breña (phone 330-4111).

STUDENT VISA
Students are issued visas for three-month stays through
a Peruvian Consulate in the U.S.
REQUIREMENTS TO OBTAIN A STUDENT VISA
a) General requirements.
b) Letter from the university or educational
institution in Peru, stating that the applicant has been
accepted, as well as indicating the amount of your
studies’ expenses and the motive and the time of your
stay.
c) Proofs that show you have sufficient funds for
your stay as an student, for example, valid credit card,
scholarship
letter stating that you have been granted a
scholarship covering the amount of studies’ expenses,
bank statement (financial statement) which must be
printed on company paper, not older than 3 months,
mentioning the bank’s contact address and phone number,
contact person and account number.
General and specific requirements must be fulfilled even
if you have obtained a previous authorization issued by
the Peruvian Immigration Office (Oficina de Migraciones
or DIGEMIN).
Once the visa is issued, you shall use it within six (6)
months.
Student visas may be renewed at the Peruvian Immigration
Office (Oficina de Migraciones or DIGEMIN) once the
student has enrolled in a Peruvian school.

PRESS VISA
Peruvian consulates issue press visas to journalists
traveling to Peru in official trip.
REQUIREMENTS TO OBTAIN A PRESS VISA
a) General requirements (page 1)
b) Letter from the media company (print, radio, TV or
Internet), explaining the purpose of the trip.
c) Letter giving a detailed description of the
equipment intended to be brought temporarily into Peru.
d) A valid passport with at least one (1) year of
validity.
e) Copy of the Press ID, two passport color pictures
with white background.
General and specific requirements must be fulfilled even
if you have obtained a previous authorization issued by
the Peruvian Immigration Office (Oficina de Migraciones
or DIGEMIN).
Once the visa is issued, you shall use it within six (6)
months.

The Ministry of External Relations issues a Yellow Card
(Special Credential) to all foreign journalists who
visit Peru as correspondents and stay a minimum period
of 90 days or to attend special events organized by the
Peruvian Government.
Journalists, who visit Peru for shorter periods than 90
days, will receive a Press Visa issue by any Peruvian
Consular office, and this will be valid to develop their
activities and bring temporarily their equipments into
Peru.
